Swimming
The following beaches/sites are suitable for swimming.
Tøgevågen, 3 km north of Tau. Popular destination for boaters and ramblers. Barbecue, WC and moorings.
Strandastøa, Tau. Playgrounds and WC. Well-suited for wind-surfers.
Kuvika, 4 km south of Tau. Playgrounds and WC. Excellent fishing.
Barkavika, 2 km north of Jørpeland. Sandy beach, beachvolley, WC and parking.
Nordlys, Jørpeland. Playground, beachvolley and WC.
Idsal. Popular with boaters and ramblers.
There
is a fine beach at Lake Refsvatn, just below Preikestolhytta, where you
may taje a refreshing swim after returning from the top of the famous cliff.
There is also a beach in Bjørheimsvatnet near Holta and in
Østerhusvatnet in Bjørheimsbygd. You may also find good conditions for
swimming in other lakes and rivers. NB: Do not swim in lakes marked "drinking
water".
